Burden

1.

An unkindness of cackling Ravens,
perching on crackling electric pylons,
pitch black as coal, as night,
as cancerous fueled lungs,
waiting to impart their will
on the village familial.

2.
Walking up that hill,
with a burdening load on an ageing back.
Like Sysphus of old.
A deceit repaid.
Made to watch as it rolls down the hill, climb to the peak,
and repeat.
Made to watch as it rolls down the hill, climb to the peak,
and repeat, again and again.

Pause. Lighten the load
on this road of rubble to the top of rock bottom.
Stop. Pound the boulder to pebbles, till fists bleed.

See life and breath from a new pinnacle.
